Thank you for taking the time to visit my website and learn more about me.

A native of Broward County, I was raised in District 98 which includes parts of Davie, Plantation and Sunrise. My roots in this community run deep, and I am proud to represent my hometown in the Florida House.

I was first elected State Representative in November 2012. As a member of the minority party, I have strived to be a consensus builder and bipartisan leader, focusing on cost-effective public policies that create jobs, improve public and higher education, expand access to affordable and quality health care, and protect individual liberties and rights.

After my first legislative session, my ability to achieve results as a Democrat freshman lawmaker was recognized by several statewide organizations. I have a passion for criminal justice reform which led me to file a bill to address prescription drug trafficking, allowing prosecutors to divert certain first-time, non-violent prescription drug addicts to drug courts and saving taxpayers millions. The Florida Association of Criminal Defense Lawyers named me their 2013 Linda Cox Champion of Justice for my advocacy of smart justice reforms.

I also represent communities like Sunrise Lakes, Lauderdale West, Pine Island Ridge, and Park City so issues facing our senior citizens and retirees are important to me. Our seniors and their families need affordable options to to meet a wide range of needs. I was honored to be named a Champion of the Elderly by the Florida Health Care Association for my efforts to make sure that our seniors are protected from abuse and neglect.

My district is home to many family farms, equestrian centers, rodeo competitions, and nurseries, as agriculture is part of Davie's tradition and rural heritage. I was named a Champion for Agriculture by the Florida Farm Bureau for my efforts to expand agritourism and promote a coexistence between local governments and bona fide farms and nurseries.

Florida faces many challenges, and I ask for your support in bringing pragmatic, sensible solutions to the issues we face as a community and as a State. Please sign up for email updates on news and events.

Thank you,

Katie Edwards
